Gina Jorge Lecturer of Writing, M.A. English Writing Studies
My teaching philosophy is based upon a culture of learning how to learn to promote academic and social achievement. My approach to instruction is developed on writing centered pedagogies to support literacy and student engagement. I encourage students to think critically, to make independent claims and communicate their ideas with confidence.
My participation in the National Writing Project Summer Institute inspired my thesis research (and this blog) on Connected Learning. I continue to explore digital practices for teaching writing and rhetoric to students, merging theory and the best practices for writing instruction.
I’ve finally started doing what I love for work. I’m not going to pretend it’s easy – it’s not. Everyday there’s a new request, a new reason to grant an extension. It’s taken me years, expensive graduate school, more late nights then I can count. But there’s just no substitution for career satisfaction.
